Simply Stoves Showroom, Southminster Highstreet.

Southminster lies at the centre of the Dengie Hundred, a peninsula of land to the east of Chelmsford, Essex and bounded by the North Sea to the east. The River Crouch to the south and the River Blackwater to the north. Once part of a tropical sea, the land rose to become a home to dinosaurs whose fossilised bones are still being found. The Doomsday book recognised its name but the Dengie 100 has been the home to man since the iron age. The Iron Age man discovered and cultivated the rich soil and mild maritime climate.

The Romans came and built forts and homes. Following were the Saxons who gave the area its name. In the following years, history was shaped by the surrounding sea, marshes and rich farmland. Followed were sea battles over oysters, threshing machines and religious revival.

Modern Dengie is a thriving rural community that has retained the qualities of life set out by its forebears whilst accommodating modern leisure and industrial facilities. Idyllic hamlets with Essex Weather board cottages nestling against historic Inns will conjure up images of bygone years.

Why not make a day trip of your showroom visit and head into the nearby town of Burnham on Crouch which is the largest in the Dengie Peninsula, whether it’s to sample the local Ale at The Star Inn Pub, enjoy traditional fish and chips by the River or the exceptional cuisine at Swallowtails, over looking the marina, there is plenty to see and do and it’s a beautiful change from the usual hustle and bustle of the large High Street chains!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
