The Portway Arundel XL Wood Burning Stove has been developed with aesthetics, efficiency, and flexibility in mind. Known previously as the Flavel Arundel.
This steel bodied stoves robust looks and large viewing window makes it suitable for most room settings.
With a heat output of 4.9kW and a Useful Energy Efficiency of 78.1%, the Portway Arundel XL is both cost effective and heat efficient.
The stove now has a larger viewing window, cast iron door, and lever style handle, and is suitable for use in Smoke Control Areas, as recommended by DEFRA.

Portway multi fuel and wood burning stoves, invented by an ironmongery business owner in the early 1800s.
Charles Portway’s invention was so successful that a nearby shop keeper built a stove to use it.
Portway established a foundry to produce solid fuel stoves, which survived unchanged until the 1980s.
The beauty of Portway’s stoves was their efficiency. The stoves burned so slowly that they drew the maximum amount of heat from the fuel.
Tortoise stoves were proudly made with the phrase “Slow but Sure” emblazoned on the front.
It was the first heating device to provide fuel efficiency as a significant selling factor, making its role in the history of its business extremely important today.
Originally know as the Flavel Arundel, these stoves are also available as the Portway Arundel XL Multifuel stove
